Hi, basically I would like to build something like a simple MSProject timeline calculation in a Sharepoint repeating table with Infopath.
Important: I need a solution in Infopath xpath and no VB/C# solution since code is blocked by the server.
My table looks like this where only the first three columns are filled out manually and the fourth one ...

Never mind. I found another way to approach this. I am setting the value when submit button is clicked. It's not as pretty, but it works.

If the rule is on VxGL, I'd think this:
not(xdxDocument:GetDOM("VISA GL# Validation")/dfs:myFields/dfs:datafields/d:SharePointListItem_RW[d:GL_x0023_=current()])
Since current() refers to the node you are on - which is VxGL.

Rule is on VxGL.
Yes, I think I need "NOT" instead.
That was why initially I used "not equal" but I guess no rows found is not considered as not equal.
Is there a way to go around this?
THANKS Again.

I am following this tutorial to include a condition in a default value of a textbox: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/infopath/archive/2006/11/27/conditional-default-values.aspx
In a nutshell [if a date is greater than 12/31/14, default value shall be (textbox1A / textbox2A), else (textbox1 / textbox2)], translated to actual field names in my ...

The form is published on a Windows network share and run from there. The local cache is not the problem, as new forms made to diagnose the problem have different names, so they would be copied fresh to the user's InfoPath cache.
This is not Office Online; rather it's Office Professional Plus.
Our guess is that there's some ...

Hmmm - I wonder if instead you want:
not(xdxDocument:GetDOM("VISA GL# Validation")/dfs:myFields/dfs:datafields/d:SharePointListItem_RW[d:GL_x0023_=current()/../my:VxGL])
So, the validation rule fires if there is no row where the GL_x0023_ field matches the VxGL field - but what field is this rule currently on? Not VxGL?

Hi Hilary,
Here is validation rule:
current()/../my:VxGL != xdxDocument:GetDOM("VISA GL# Validation")/dfs:myFields/dfs:datafields/d:SharePointListItem_RW/d:GL_x0023_[.=current()/../my:VxGL]
"VxGL" is value entered in combo box.
"VISA GL# Validation" is secondary data source ...

Where is the form published? SharePoint? Is the 32 bit Office install from Office Online by any chance? I am kind of grasping at straws here - but I do remember the early Office Online installs of InfoPath having some issues... and was also wondering if the Windows installs are upgrades if the template might be cached some place. One of my ...

Hilary,
You are correct on all counts.
Most of our users are still running Office 2010 on Windows 7, so our form is published with that in mind--InfoPath 2010 form at .NET 2.0. All Windows 7 users are happy. Windows 8.1 users with Office 32-bit are not.
We have the same problem no matter how the form is published:InfoPath 2010 ...
