Remove this line:String field1 = n.text;Make the following two changes: if (node.Length > 0) --> if (node.text.Length > 0)
InfoPathAttachmentDecoder(node); --> InfoPathAttachmentDecoder(node.text);
-
The first line should have DOMNodeList, not IXMLDOMNode.
The foreach line should be something like:
foreach(IXMLDOMNode node in n)
and then you should replace "field1" with "node" in these lines:
if (field1.Length > 0)
InfoPathAttachmentEncoding.InfoPathAttachmentDecoder(field1);
-
You should use the selectNodes method instead of selectSingleNode, and then iterate through the results (you can use a foreach loop), saving one file each time the loop iterates. You will need to come up with a scheme for differentiating the file names.

Did you remember to check "submit as a string" for each of the fields when you were setting up the data connection?

Are you sure that they're expression boxes and not text boxes? I've never seen an expression box that wasn't read-only.
You can also make text boxes read-only, incidentally.

What are the datatypes of the parameters to the web method? string? int? XmlNode?
Are you seeing this error when you set up the data connection, or when you try to actually use it?
-
Did you write your webservice in .NET, or on some other platform?
What are the datatypes of your webmethod's parameters and return value?

In C#, indexers are accessed with square brackets, not parentheses:
DataSources["external datasource name"].CreateNavigator().SelectSingleNode("xpath to field in external datasource", NamespaceManager).SetValue(Application.User.LoginName);
-
An unfortunate aspect of expression boxes is that they do not allow their text to be selected or copied. If you want to allow users to select and copy a chunk of uneditable text, I think you'll need to use a read-only textbox.
If you're looking for a way to select a whole bunch of controls, or text built into the form, and ...

Just use a rule to copy the AccountID value to the field in the WS connection and then query it.
