Do you want to place the cursor in a particular field when the user opens the form? If so, just change Tab Index of that field to 1 and all other fields to 0. The tab index is displayed in the field properties -> advanced tab.

If you take the main source as web service or database or some other connection other than Blank form then that check box would be grayed out.
You can change the schema in the xsd file as you like and according to that you bind the controls for those fields.

Make sure that the field data type should be whole number(integer) and you should enter the integer value in the field.
