Oh - and also, not all types of columns can be indexed. I know I was looking at this on a very large list where we wanted to have views that were filtered on an "Assigned To" column that was a person or group, and we could not add it as an indexed column. ...

Argh. It's Monday, I've been gone for a week, and I am brain-dead. So-ooo, this statement:ChangeSubmitUrl won't have the outcome you desire for your SubmitToSharePointList command, since the command is already using the URL from the mapping file, not from the data connection. So a rule to just change that URL in the ...

I did some further reading and it seems that it just changes where the filter is applied. Even though it seems a query filter would be applied at server level it doesn't seem to be, unless the field is indexed in SharePoint.
This is a brilliant workaround. Just like to point out to anyone who reads this later on, you MUST index the columns on ...

Well, the issue is that the people picker is bound to a repeating group - so what you see in the control is two accounts separated by a semi-colon, but the actual schema is different - there are two nodes. Another question is about ...

I mean, we often add a helper field of some kind (like, a true / false named Locked or some such) and then use form logic to set that, then add conditional formatting to the ...

It was kind of funny to me that I saw your question when I did - this is something I tested just last week, so I was aware that adding an index & querying worked in our enviro - thanks for letting me know that it worked for you!

I realized I should have included a bit more information, sorry. :)
So - SubmitToSharePointList uses a Submit data connection. That means that when the data connection is executed (as it is during the SubmitToSharePointList command), InfoPath checks the validation on the main data source. If there are validation errors, the submit data connection ...
-
Well - that error is specifically about the main data source having validation errors. You can add a ClearErrors command to clear these - do you have required fields that are not filled out when you run your SubmitToSharePointList command?
Also- the SubmitToSharePointList command uses the SharePoint URL from the mapping file - so instead of using ...
