You'll need to add a data connection to your form that sends email (or you can use SharePoint designer workflow, if you prefer). I generally have a field named "Status" in my form and use that to keep track of who to send things to. Normally I include a link to open the form. I'm attaching a simple sample form with fields used ...

Hi - the red highlighting indicates a validation issue. Submit data connections will fail if there are validation errors, so no, I think the form won't submit with a validation error. Is the field bound to the radios set to Cannot be blank? Changing that should remove the validation - or it could be the field has a validation rule on it. Feel ...

So - the same issue occurs in a new list? If you look in the list data, do you see data in the start / end fields?
-
Yup, you guessed it - can't have a multiple line of text field as a query field.

I've not seen this. Can you try creating a new Calendar and see if it reproduces? Can your SharePoint admin check the ULS logs?
-
Perfect, I'm happy you found a work around!

I'll go ahead and add a syntax sample for gt (greater than) - ListName replaced with your list name, and this is comparing the Modified date: /_vti_bin/listdata.svc/ListName?$filter=Modified gt datetime'YYYY-MM-DDT12:00:00Z'

You'll probably need to use the older version - you can see if the ListData.svc is available with this URL (put in your server name, including site collection if needed in place of "myserver"): http://myserver/_vti_bin/ListData.svc

I'm sorry, I'm an idiot - I forgot that we can't query on calculated fields. Yuck. Any chance you can use REST here? Is this SharePoint Online?
-
So - the issue is with our query fields in InfoPath data connections, we can only use equivalence. You won't be able to check if something is less than today minus 7 for example. If you are using on-prem you might be able to use a REST query for this, using the listdata.svc. I'm trying to think of an approach that can use a regular list ...
