It usually represents the node to which the control is bound. So if your control is a drop-down list box, and it is bound to NodeA... then NodeA should be current(). There are some exceptions, but I believe this should help.

The problem is most likely coming from the get-DOM() call. You should be using current() instead -- which requires a manual update. This topic has been discussed before. Do a search in these Forums for ''current()'' and the results should give you enough info to go on.

The issue is most likely coming from your filter: [@System=current()/d:SourceA/d:System]. Make certain you know what node current() represents... the XPath following that must be in relation to the actual node represented by current().

You need to use the current() function in place of get-DOM().
When you use get-DOM() you are always starting over from the beginning. current() picks up where you currently are at.
So you expression (and you'd need to correct it according to your schema) would maybe look more like ...

The first parameter for SetNamedNodeProperty() needs to be the node to the table... or in your case I believe it should be //Patient. It should not be any of the row nodes.
Also, for future reference, using .firstChild() is a bad habit because it could be a #TEXT node like a TAB or something else. It may not be an actual element. It is better to ...

It sounds like you are asking if there is a way to determine what type of a control either A) the user is currently focused in, or B) is bound to a particular field in your DOM.
The answer is that you can't... at least not directly.
There might be a round-about way to do this which is to load the particular view into your code, and search it for ...

You will need to write some automation code to do this... and your code will have to open each form, change the value, and save again.
For your master form to do this it will need to be set to use full trust security.
