Hi Casey,
You definitely can do this and I've done it before. You will have to specify a double filter for the Items. Remember that you are filtering in the children, not the parent. In other words, the item dropdown should have a filter that only chooses items that match the subcategory AND category.

Sorry Nkstrou,
I wish we could help you but we don't use Access and we don't use Mater-Detail. We use SQL and we set up sections that link to one another but don't use the master-detail control? Why? Well, probably because Access doesn't scale very well to Internet solutions and the Master-detail control wasn't supported in ...

Hi Ramy,
Microsoft should have some free tutorials on how to use ShP Designer to set up workflows. Your workflow may be simple enough that you can just use the out-of-box Approval workflow. Once the form is approved, you can copy values from your form library to a ShP calendar list and then use Outlook to show your SharePoint calendar items. ...

What you did makes sense.
Tightly coupled Web services are brittle when you have to make changes. We use a loosely coupled Web service that takes the entire XML and maps it to SQL based on a secondary mapping configuration (i.e. it's data driven). This allows us to easily change the client or server schema and roundtrip ...

Hi Shniggens,
Glad to hear you are hopping with your solution.
We've done quite a few Absence Request solutions. I guess it's kind of like a bank account - you need a ledger so you can go back and recalculate at any point. Then, if they cancel, you can just add a credit entry or something like that. The key here is to record the requests ...
