Hmmmm. So - does the request from need to update the list at all? I mean - I would think even that could be done via workflow, if there is a one-to-one relationship between requests and periodicals (i.e., user can only select a single periodical per request) - can you maybe provide a bit more info on what you need to build? :)
-
Well - you can't do this with a button out of the box, but you could go to the Insert tab, and insert a hyperlink (not a hyperlink control, but an actual hyperlink)... you can set the text to "Click here" or whatever, and the link to the URL. Is the email sent from the form? Or from SharePoint workflow?

No - I was thinking maybe create a calculated column in your library and then group by that? I'm not 100% on whether we can group by a calculated column in a SharePoint view, but it seems worth a try....

I wonder about using a calculated value? i.e., if the file type is XML, use the field from the form, or if it is not, use the "Title" or other column from the Word doc?

Have you worked with InfoPath before? Do you have InfoPath designer installed? I would not directly modify the form's source files. I would just use the InfoPath UI. Have you published an InfoPath form before? Are these forms used in the browser or in the client (InfoPath filler)?

A lot of this depends on the types of data connections in your InfoPath forms, but in general, my initial advice still stands: Create a library for your forms. Create any other SharePoint lists that your form may use for queries. Republish your SharePoint form to the new library. If you use the same names for your lists / libraries, InfoPath ...

I made a guess on which dropdowns were involved and added calculated values that I think will work for these. Save the attached file locally. Right click, select design. Then preview to see if this works the way you need - if not, let me know and we'll try again. :)

Oh, it is a list form, which slightly changes the answer, since you aren't dealing with repeating data. Is it the Credential Status that will have the options of "Approved" etc?
-
You'll use the sum function. When you select the value field (which is repeating) you should be able to click the Filter data button and add a filter - where you'd pick the dropdown field, then is equal to, then type in the value (like Approved or Rejected or what-have-you). That gets you the correct sum! Feel free to attach your form ...

Hey, that's great news, I'm glad a URL param solves the problem! Great job figuring it out, and thanks again for posting - I'm not the only who didn't know about this, I think. :)
