Hi TravMan,
There's a few possible things that could be happening here. Are your rules on separate actions? If not, that is a good place to start. Also, bringing the command field onto the view and setting the post-backs to always if this is a browser form. You can also try to disable the close and see what happens.
If that works you can ...

Hello jcspsu,
For this I would add a second rule to subtract when the user de-selects. This way as they make changes the value will update. Actions only fire on a change event from a field, so you should not see any behavior on form load that would set the field.
Hope that helps!

Hello ocolonr,
Have you set the field to post-back if it's a browser form? You also might want to try deleting the control and re-adding to the view to see if it resolves your issue.
Hope that helps!

Hello arjandeveries,
To do this you would need each selection within a section that has a formatting rule to hide if the field is blank.

You can just use insert and a rule on the repeating main data source row to set the value. See attached sample. I don't know if you are using a browser forms or not, but you may need to test this in the browser to verify there aren't any problems there. The insert rule is on the QdabraRules finishedLoading node. :)

You can check the command overview for syntax when one item is in a secondary data source. The parameter is dsnamesrc if it is the source table.
