I don't think this is possible - best you would get is adding a button to the repeating table/section of the secondary datasource which copies that record's values somewhere else - so the user would have to manually copy each record using the button.
All other solutions use code or maybe a third party extension software/plugin. But you ...

Go to Data Connections - main connection, and 'edit SQL' - see if you can't figure out how to put a WHERE clause on it that looks at the values of both a1 and b1 and see if this allows you to accomplish - if not - I have my own approach using jScript. Can you use jScript?

Sure, you should be able to do this with conditional formatting and an extra field.
The field could be a normal text field - with a default value of 1.
Create a button on your form which sets the value of the new field = -1 * the field.
Right click on the section you want to be able to hide - go to the conditional formatting and set when ...

Hmmmmmmmm maybe - you could try placing the repeating table on the form.
Have a field (indexNum) created outside of the repeating group which stores an 'index number'. Default 1.
Decide how many rows of the table you want to display (my example below uses 5)
Now put conditional formatting on the repeating table to hide when position() ...

I've built a 'custom questionairre' form template which may do what you want. I'll get it from work next week and post it.

I tried an approach where in jScript I made a manual connection to the SQL server and sent the attachment field text (it's BASE64 encoded already) to the database to a memo field. You can't bind an Infopath field to a memo field directly - and memo fields are what's needed if you have an attachment of any appreciable size.
It worked - ...

try catch would be it - makes sense - if there's no apples, and someone told me to eat the apple, i might have an error too ;-)

You should be able to create a button with the action 'Save & Close' this will ask the user for a save location (if it's a new form) or save over the top of the form wherever they currently have it.
The same effect (without the automatic close) would be if they select File > Save or File > Save As
If you must use code ...

I think I understand. You want the drop down box to only contain the values which are relevant to certain condition.
But we need more information about the condition - does it change depending on what the user enter earlier in the form? Maybe you want it to be based on their logged in user name?
Rather than looking for a 'click' event - ...

You could dump the XDocument.xml property to a text file - but I don't know how you would 'remove' the user's access - you'd have to adjust file permissions?? Perhaps you could use a shell command to cacls.exe (could be dangerous).
Another way, if superficial 'hiding' from user is suitable - before saving to file you ...
