If you are using DBXL's submit document you can submit a form as is, the name author and description is meta data to describe it within DBXL.
If you want to shred, export data from your form into a table, then you configure this in the DAT and data mapping.
I would look at some of the tutorials for more information or you can contact me ...

I am not aware nor have heard of any performance difference regarding views. InfoPath loads and renders everything up front either way.
I do not have an example fo code for changing focus you would have to do a search for that.

Hey Bill, Thats a great question.
I think standard practice would be to break up your form into multiple views or sections. Then you could use buttons to switch to other views. Another option is to put your controls into sections and then hide / unhide these sections as neccessary (colapse / uncollapse). You also can tailor ...

Are you moving any data out of the secondary connection into your main schema? Or are you using the fields of the secondary directly?
My guess would ...

I am not aware of any way to query the current view of the user from SharePoint.
Ideally you could choose the opening view by user, what department they are a member of, or by some peice of data in the form, such as its state in your process or something.
You possibly could get the current URL of their browser but this gets you into full ...
