• Re: Transfer repeating table

Probably the best practice would be to use a database and have one form write and the next form read from the table. You also could save the first form and then use the xml file as a data source for the second form.

  • Re: Autopopulate a text box from another by matching fields in a secondary data source?

yes this is doable. You would have a text box for the cost center description entry. You would have a second field for the cost center number. It would default to your secondary data connection cost center field with a filter of description = cost center description (what the user entered). This should check to update automatically ...

  • Re: An error has occurred accessing a datasource

There could be several reasons for this. If it is working most of the time then I would not think it is a configuration issue. One could be a network problem or latency that is occuring every so often where the connection is timing out. It could be an issue on the client or the server processing the request. Sometimes Internet ...

  • Re: email data connection?

What I usually do is have a version number that increments with each submission this makes it possible both to see the version as well as react programatically if necessary. We have created a whole Project Management application on InfoPath and the Database Accelerator Suite. That provides work flow, assignments, security, search, filtering, etc ...

  • Re: Why is text box changing to red dashes after I enter data

The red dashes mean InfoPath does not like what you are inputing into the field. There is some kind of format issue. I would double check what type of field it is, that it is not a date or boolean or something. Can you input into it without red dashes before you select your other critieria? I would maybe put the ...

  • Re: Button to Save the form

The submit to SharePoint can be added to a button whether it is a submit button or via a rule on another button. It is an action of a rule. Saving to a file share or any where else is a submit data connection as well. You can go into form options and remove the ability to save the form manually by your users. Once the form is in ...

  • Re: Query/Submit fields

Query is an action that is available on about any control in the rules section. I would typically create a rule on the field where the query value is stored that runs the second query. that way each time it is changed it automatically runs the subsequent query. But you can put a rule on a button or whatever you want.

  • Re: EXCEL and IP?

You may want to look at having your Excel file be a data connection for your IP form. Or better yet use SQL or SQL express on the backend and have your Excel use the data from there and have your IP form use the data from SQL too. You can export from IP to Excel but some of the copy and paste I think is difficult. You may want to ...

  • Re: Query/Submit fields

Yes you can have multiple webservice data connections that submit or receive. It would depend on the web serivice but you can see the fields in the operations and then submit it. It is all just a matter of moving the data to other fields or using fields as parameters. If you have looked at the Database Acceleraot Web Services there are ...
