I am not positive whether there is a solution in SP 2007 or not but I had this issue with 2003. Your options are to put the permissions in your form, but this can be defeated, use email to notify managers instead of SP, or use the Database Accelerator. DBXL and our catalog form gives you all the workflow and assignment and actually ...

Typically I just have an integer field called Version and Set the field's value. my:Version | my:Version + 1
You have to use rules on submit. the default does not allow you this flexibility or option. At the end just use the submit action.

Hi Eric.
SharePoint is not required for InfoPath but from an enterprise, best practice standpoint you typically want a client server setup and have a central repository for your documents or some central control or process which governs their use and movement.
I would recommend you investigate the Database Accelerator Web Services ...

Hey there and welcome to the forums.
If you are just starting out with Infopath and you need to create an enterprise solution with a database backend and workflow, I would recommend the Database Accelerator Suite of Web Services. Qdabra Database Accelerator Suite Version 2.0 - Developer

The datafield of source1 (textbox A) could be the query field of your second data connection, depending on how it is configured, but I know it can have a rule that passes its value (set field value) to another query field or in the data connection itself pass it's value to the web service.

Well whatever is in your query fields when you execute the query is what is used. It sounds like you need some preliminary action to seed your fields before the query. I would recomend making a test form and then playing witht he query funtionality, put all of the query fields and all of the resulting data fields in the view and then ...

OK too bad.
With 2007 you could use the import wizard on the word document and the header footer functionality.
The Table technique is your only option otherwise.
Good Luck

There is a couple different ways to do this.
This can be done in the form. Create a second submit routine and use conditional rules so that depending on status it would submit to one location or the other. You could also have two buttons and then hide show the appropriate one depending on the user / status combo.
Another way I have ...

I have done this exact thing before for HR forms.
You need an originating user field. if it is blank then set it with the current user. (new form Scenario)
I usually put a version field in somewhere so I know how many times a form has been modified too. (have it incremented each submit)
Put in a rule on open that checks the originating ...

Hey Paul, welcome to the forum.
It sounds like you have InfoPath 2007, like you are importing the word form. If that is the case you can put fields in your header or footer but in InfoPath 2003 you cannot. You are right the other option is to do it within your form which can often be difficult to accomplish depending on your form.
To ...
