The error seems to indicate a data type mismatch: "Value was either too large or too small for a UInt32".
What rules do you have on the Cancel button?

Are you using an email submit data connection? If so, that's necessarily going to launch an Outlook popup where the user has to click Send. I don't think there's any way to disable that...
There may be other options if you don't want people seeing a popup, for example a SharePoint workflow which sends email.

I thought the picture control has a setting for either a link or to show the image. Could it be that you've selected the control property to display the link only? Perhaps it's just a matter of changing the control properties to display the image instead.

Changing views to send email is a pain. I personally prefer using sections.

section2 for emailing
And then just use conditional formatting to hide/show the two sections as necessary,

Yes, it is possible. You'll pass in a group name then call GetMembersOfGroup. The web service will return a list of the members in that group, and you can use that list to populate a dropdown. Dropdowns in your main data source can be set to get their data from an external data source, in this case, GetMembersofGroup.

Did someone else install the software (since you're not an admin)?

As the DBXL Administrator you can add permissions for other users. Here is how to edit these permissions:
1. In the Qdabrawebservice folder where DBXL was installed, find the web.config file.
2. Open the file (in a text editor, like Notepad) and look for the following: ReaderGroupAlias, WriterGroupAlias, AdminGroupAlias and DbxlAdminAlias.
3. ...
