Is there a way to programmatically (or any other way) to get at the ''Display Name'' of items in a drop-down? I need the values and display names different in one situation, but when I bind the same node to a textbox control it displays the value. I need to display the ''Display Name'' in both the drop-down box and the textbox while having a ...

I'm not exactly sure how these functions behave but from my understanding onBeforeChange is going to fire A LOT more than onAfterChange(). If you switch your function to onAfterChange() it will probably only fire when you actually change the value of one of the fields.

Try this:
var nodelist = XDocument.View.GetContextNodes();
var present = false;
while( n = nodelist.nextNode() )
{
if( n == selectSingleNode(''xpath/to/node'') )
{
present = true;
break;
}
}
if( present )
XDocument.View.SelectText(objNode);

6) Click browse and find ''new.xsn'' and click ...

Why don't you implement the onAfterChange() event (on Pay# control) to populate the necessary after the Pay# field has been changed? It would look something like this:
function msoxd_my_PayNumber::OnAfterChange(eventObj)
{
var payNum = Math.parseInteger(eventObj.Site.text);
var date = secondary_data_source_DOM.selectSingleNode( ...

I got it working. I'm not sure which of the two that I was missing caused the runtime error (I'm guessing html2xhtml.dll), but after I copied ImageDecode.dll and ../html2xhtml.dll into system32 and registered them, everything seemed to work. However, couldn't MS give a little bit more descriptive error message to help people know why things are ...

Oh, OK. I gotcha. I have had to do this recently and I understand your frustration. Here's what I did:
1) Go tohttp://www.infopathdev.com/howto/tutorials/default.aspx?i=d663d7df90e94e65abb02632966e8127 and implement this to get a autogenerated row ID for each row in the table.
2) Make a function kind of like this to obtain the row ID:
function ...
