Oob-noob:
You are using the correct terms...
You can't use a browser form with SQL either - you'll need a Web Service that queries and submits to SQL. Get our free trial generic InfoPath Web Service by going to Qdabra dot com and looking for DBXL...
You can do cascading dropdowns in InfoPath without SQL or Access or World Peace ... just ...

That's very interesting. I'm going to log a qRules inquiry into our bug database to investigate why this is the case.
Thanks for the workaround!
I'm off tonight but I'll be online from 10am tomorrow for a few hours.

I believe this is a change in InfoPath behavior between 2007 and 2010. Not sure why qRules injecting brings it about, but you should be able to use the second query string when it asks for Sample Values. Send me email and I can take a quick look via Live Meeting today.

Go to File->Advanced Options->Versioning. What do you see selected in the dropdown?

Use qRules SetValue command. Should be documented in the User Guide. You can also use the square bracket operators to set a specific row position and thereby set a value, but qRules is a lot easier and I believe you have that.

Maybe Submit is failing and that's why it isn't working because you haven't enabled overwrite or something silly like that. Go to Submit Options and see what your settings are. You can always change from a Submit button to a button that has a rule with an action that submits, followed by an action that closes, etc.
