Yeah, I've not seen this specifically - I have forms where we submit, query, submit again. What version of InfoPath / SharePoint? On-prem SharePoint, or Office 365?

 This is under the Submit Options - Data tab in the ribbon, Submit Options, Perform custom action using rules. Then the Form Submit button on the Data tab in the Rules area should be enabled.

 Is this a SharePoint List form? Maybe you could use a rich text field instead?

 any solution on being able to restore the message boxes to a readable form? My machine is a Win7, It happened a few months ago after a company security update. I've been limping along since, but would like to find a fix. For some reloading InfoPath 2010 didn't work. :(  

 Changed the postback setting to always but still getting the same issue when using a browser, preview mode still working perfectly Any other ideas? (still googling away in the background)   Regards David 

 Hi Hilary,  I get the same issue if I just have the one view, reference fails to load but I can add a second button with a query setting which then causes the reference to display. Will have a look at the postback stuff and report back.   Regards David 

Exactly. Sections are in main data source the only thing is in each section I'll have a couple of text controls hence the need for a section to hide them all. But yes if I had a static column for each month and was able to fill each month column in the way you have it for your repeating section in your form I'd be able to hide or show a ...
