Hi Dan,
Well, most people use either a) a Web Service tied to SQL, or b) a SharePoint list tied to SQL via BCS. This is the first I have heard of the VBA approach. Why not just map your InfoPath form to the SharePoint list and use BCS to write it to SQL? The problem with Excel is that it's client side (the VBA won't run on the server so ...

Mapybe you could create a XSL-"tweaked" XTP that you drag-and-drop into all of your forms...

Hi Sandy,
Have you searched this forum for "Cascading Dropdowns" or "Current" ? Greg has some good blogs and there are tons of posts.

You will need to either a) enter the username column into the list or b) make sure that the user is the last person to edit their Examiner Name rows (and use ModifiefBy as username comparison).

If you're using centrally managed UDCx files for your secondary data connectoins (including XML), you should be able to migrate from one site to another without as much work. But, even if you aren't it should not be hideous. You will have to fixup data connections and GUIDs but you can do that either manually by editing the XSF or using ...

Skarn, you simply rock! :)
Don't forget the xdPreserved for protecting XSLT blocks so that InfoPath Designer doesn't change them on roundtrip. Fun stuff ahead ...

Yes, there are numerous ways to filter items from a SharePoint list:
If the list is short (<500 items), just download it and use filters
If the list is large, use Owssvr.dll to filter on the server, so that downloads are fast
If you don't want to write code, consider using qRules FilterOwssvr command
Good luck!

Hi Stara Raj,
Yes, you can copy tables, insert rows, or remove rows if you write code. The qRules plugin also provides a way to do this if you aren't a coder.
Here's another idea that requires no code: add default data to your form and hide the default data that is blank. :)

Hi JeeStirling and welcome,
Glad to see you have explored this in depth. InfoPath includes the username function as part of it's xpath arsenal - add a rule that sets a field's value when your form loads to the value of username() - use the Fx button to look it up.
Username() assumes that people are joined to the domain. Then you can use ...

Hi _Tmc_,
Not quite sure what you mean, but I'll reply anyway ...
When you admin deploy a form in MOSS 2007 (or use the sandbox in SharePoint 2010) the form is published to a folder on SharePoint. You can create a form library from the SharePoint UI (not from InfoPath) and either a) set it to use content types (and associate your form ...
