Perhaps reorganizing your data structure so that the Employee is outside the repeating group would be sufficient?

The visual is helpful -- I'm assuming it is the second (bottom) repeating table. But what I really need to see is the data source tree for that table to have an idea how the nodes are organized before I can know how to help.

That is likely possible using a secondary data source... but why not just create a new data connection, or update the existing one, to pull down the data in the format/layout you need?
-
It is possible if the nodes are set to have minOccurs=''0'' in the schema. If that is not the case then you will not be able to remove them. If it is the case you should be able to remove them using code.

Glad you got it working! And thanks Agni for providing the solution!

Okay... Going with the assumption that you have a 2DS (Note this needs to be added as a ''Data Connection'' and not just a ''Resource'') as described above, with a root node being <Lines>, and also that your main data source is of a similar structure, only that it can have a single Component...
Let's say you add a repeating table to your ...

Actually, there already are 2 forums for such things. One is this forum that you posted this topic in: Bugs / Errors / Workarounds. The other is the Feature Requests forum. Any pet-peeve you have should fall into one of those two categories--either a problem or a suggestion.

You don't bind the drop-down itself to the repeating element, you right-click your drop-down and choose Properties, and then set it up to be populated from that repeating list.
-
Secondary data sources, by their nature, contain their default values within them. For example, if you have a 2DS connected to an XML file, that XML file contains all the default values... these are not set at runtime unless you use rules or code.

You shouldn't need code for this. Add a secondary data source which links to your Access database. You can set up a button which forces a query to take place. Then bind a repeating table to the repeating node in your secondary data source (from your Data Source task pane).
