• Re: Autonumbering in Infopath

quote:Originally posted by lisaspencer I need to also set my field on the Infopath form to the TicketNumber, correct? Yes, you are right. The field in the Access database will be a regular integer - you will take care of the autonumbering within InfoPath. You could actually do it either way, but it would be a little more tricky if you did the ...

  • Re: Autonumbering in Infopath

''ORDER BY ticketNum DESC'' = Order the records in descending fashion using the ticketNum column ''LIMIT 1'' = Only return the first record The field in the form will be a non-editable text field that holds an integer data type. In the OnLoad event you will check to see if the field in the form has a value. If it doesn't, run the above query ...

  • Re: Autonumbering in Infopath

To do this, you will have to keep track of what the next ticket number is in your Access database. Then, in code you will update the ticket field (probably in the OnLoad event) by querying the database for the last ticket number and increment by one. Check out this SQL statement: ''SELECT ticketNum FROM ticketDatabase ORDER BY ticketNum DESC ...

  • Re: Am I on the right track with ExecuteAction

When you get that error it almost always means that your XPath is wrong. When connecting to a database, I don't think you need the d: namespace before every node, so try this: var oRow = ...

  • Re: Am I on the right track with ExecuteAction

Well your first problem is thinking that you cannot do it, you CAN! See this code for easily adding a blank row: var oRow = XDocument.DOM.selectSingleNode(''/my:myFields/my:Table/my:Row''); XDocument.DOM.selectSingleNode( ''/my:myFields/my:Table'' ).appendChild( oRow.cloneNode(false) ); As for running the code after your query finishes - you ...

  • Re: Paged Master Detail

You can use code behind a button to achieve what you are looking for. You will have to use a specific SQL statement and some rather advanced code to cut the SQL data into ''pages''. To use SQL statements to query the database check out this code snippet: XDocument.QueryAdapter.Command = ''select * from myTable where id > 12 limit ...

  • Re: Problem Inserting and Updating Data

If you still want to get user input even though it has no where to go in the database, you could create two sections. One section (with controls tied to SQL) will be visible when the row is present, the other (with controls bound to XML schema) will be visible when no row is returned from the DB. You would also want to modify your submit ...

  • Re: Hide Section

Conditional formatting is going to be your best bet. If you want to show/hide a section programmatically set the conditional formatting to show/hide on an invisible boolean node and then change the value of that node in code. --------------- Matt Faus InfoPath Dev Texas

  • Re: How do you acces secondary datasources

Glad to hear the article is helping you out! Making those print views can be a monstrous task sometimes. To access the DOM of the secondary data source you should be able to use a command like this: XDocument.GetDOM( ''NAME OF SECONDARY DATA SOURCE'' ); This is in the code in the article about 13 lines down. You'll just have to modify it to ...

  • Re: automatically make a event every 5 minutes

I'm thinking it might be possible with managed code, but not with script languages. Reason being that you'd have to use threads to run a real-time ''clock'' in the background to determine when 5 minutes have passed. The only other idea I would have is putting an onBeforeChange() on the root element and check the system time every time it fires. ...
