Thanks again, looks like we did almost the same thing. My rule said if = to this then set this field value.
If that is not the case then the value is set using a formula on a different field.
I will use your idea of having 2 rules on the drop down. That way it would be cleaner and less chance of rule 1 over writing formula 2

Thanks Jo-Anne.
Was this done in code or using a rule?
After I made my post I looked around some more and realised I could do this by adding a rule to the drop down. I'm not sure how to dismantle an xsn file so couldn't look to see what you had done.

I need to set a textbox value to be a simple calculation based on the value of a drop down box
Normally I would code this as...
if(dropdown == "refer") {
TotalCost = Rate*hours
} else {
TotalCost = Flatfee * 10
}
Where TotalCost, Rate, hours and flatfee are textbox values
I can set simple calculations/forumlas in Infopath but am not ...

Thanks, you've been a great help.
Introducing me to print views looks to have solved the challenge.
I created 2 new views and was pleasantly surprised to see that this gave me a drop down box in the browser to switch between views. The users will be able to use this to switch views and print. Hopefully this is as agreeable to them else ...

Nice thankyou, multiple buttons will do if that's what it takes.
When you say add buttons, do you mean placing buttons on the form itself or is there someway to customise the browser (IE) form web page that info services generates?
Just so I know which way to Google.
Thanks again

I think so but being fairly new to infopath I'm not sure where to start reading up on this. How do I tie a command/button to print a particular print view?
The flow would need to be - submit form. Then print customer copy then print supplier copy. Can this all be done via the submit button?
As a general question, the original spec for this ...

Having created a nice new infopath (2010) form and published it to our sharepoint (library) I'm now given some requirements that would have been nice on day 1 :)
ok think of this as a booking system.
The client and supplier details are entered into the form and relative money values such as money taken by this office, money to be collected by ...

If I could get the automated email to point to an infopath template then I should be able to populate the first half of the template with data from SQL meaning the help desk operative could complete the remainder of the form and submit it.... shouldn't I?
Only problem is, as I've been having a play trying to achieve this I keep getting ...

Hi,
Brand new to Infopath. Am using 2003.
I am looking at building a help desk request form... here is what I have achieved so far...
Created a new form. On the form are 2 dropdown lists that are populated from sharepoint (MOSS 2007) lists.
I have published the new form to a forms library on MOSS.
I have created a web service (vb.net) that takes ...
