Oh, good job! Sorry I missed this last week, but it looks like you got it squared away on your own. :)

It depends on how you are using the results. If you query the data connection, use rules to set some fields, and then query the data connection again with a different filter, that will work fine. If you are using it for a dropdown, however, whatever the last result set is will display (same issue with a default value).

Exactly - it is a little confusing, but you can bind the section even to a field in the data source, and go ahead and move your fields into the section, then add your conditions - InfoPath will keep track of the XPath to everything for you. :)

It is possible to hide any type of a button based on a condition. Can you attach a copy of your form to a reply so I can take a look at it? Under the Options tab....

In a test list form, I was able to select "Section" from the controls and it was added to my form and bound to the SharePointListItem_RW node. What are you trying and what is happening when you try?

So there are a few behaviors in InfoPath that I don't find intuitive - but that we can sometimes leverage to our advantage. This is one - if you don't specify the row with an index or XPath filter, you get the first value. The second is that if you set a field inside a repeating node from outside (i.e., you have a button at the top of your ...

So - the most recent row is the first one. In InfoPath, if we select a field from a repeating data source, it is by default going to return the first value - that's why I had you sort desc. :-) You can also just index the XPath if need be - select the field using the field picker, in the formula editor tick the box to show the XPath and put ...

No. You will not be able to update one list from another list form using out of the box InfoPath and SharePoint List functionality. I may have misunderstood your question. I thought you were asking if you could populate the form with the most recent saved values.

In the direct link, do you include any URL params, like maybe "openin" or "noredirect"? I'm wondering if those might help here. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/office/developer/sharepoint-2010/ms772417(v%3Doffice.14)
