I wouldn't think so. Just hide the expression box with the div calculation unless the total field has a value in it. The total field on your form is bound to the total field in the data source, correct? and that field has a default value?

Can you add an additional data field to your form to contain the name? If so, you can use a default value on that node (deselect the update on change checkbox) to hold your name, or add an open rule to populate that field if it is blank.

I'm attaching a quick sample to better explain what I mean. Right click the link, Save As, open in design mode and preview. Put an amount in the Total field, and add some rows to the repeating table with a category of A (use a capital A, that is what I used in my sum formulas). If total is blank and you have amounts in the table, you'll ...

Nah, you aren't a bother at all. Everyone has to learn, and really, none of this stuff is all that simple.
Let's see. There are ways to make a default value or an expression box value 'conditional' but they are a little complex. What about if you conditionally format the expression box so it only shows if cost is not 0 and total ...

What field are you dividing by? Does it have a value?

So, when you tried this:
sum(/my:expenseReport/my:items/my:item/my:cost[../my:category = "A"]) div my:expenseReport/my:otherField
You had an error?
As an aside, I have no idea why the error before suggested you needed a comma...

That would be because my syntax was wrong -- I forgot the closing parenthesis!
sum(/my:expenseReport/my:items/my:item/my:cost[../my:category = "A"])

No, you don't need to create unique fields for each option.
Think of the category field as a container. It is going to hold whatever your user selects from the drop down. The item they select will go into the category 'container' and stay there.... unless they change their mind and select a different option. Does that make sense?
Per ...

If you click the link in the Export window in IP 2007, it takes you here. I only see one conversion tool in the marketplace, and it is to convert other things into IP forms. You may end up needing to write your own -- add code to the form that writes an xml file with specific values from your form....

Hi!
We have a tool for that, available here for free download. You can use the DBXL Migration tool to export your DAT configuration (documents, too, if you wish) and then use it to import the configuration to a different DBXL install.
Let us know if you need any help with it, okay?
