I don't use the inbuilt validation rule. For me the compulsory fields are too easily missed.
I've created my own rule on the final submit button, FormStatus must be X and Field X can't be blank etc. I also hide the final submit button within a section until all the validation checks have been passed.
If the field is blank ...
Glad you found a fix. Sorry for the delay in responding. You could have right clicked on the data source and chose More and Calculated Value. That might have averted the error you got. Don't know though without looking at your form more closely.
Hello!
I have a list in SharePoint 2010, I wanted to create a new InfoPath form that pulls all of the information from a row of the this list. I have linked to this list as the data source and I was able to use lookup to pull a listing of the site names (which is one of the data points in the list) that show as a drop down in the form. Hilary,
Thank you so much. I am just getting a chance to look at this today and I cannot say how much I appreciate you reaching out to help me.
I will apply this to the form, just as I thought, You are the best.
Thanks
Carol

When export to Excel questions are headers, unfortunately, some questions are long making for unwieldy column headers.
Would like question to be rows, not headers. How can I design form to obtain this layout when export ...

You need to set postback to always on the control executing the command. PS > if your mapping data connection is named mapping, you don't have to include the /mapping param, and can just use SubmitToSharePointList /submit=Submit

I do see a rule on your "submit" button that appears to set a field's value after you submit and close the form - so that will be an issue. I don't know what this means: "form getting refresh not saving in form library". I think you are saying that when you re-submit an existing XML, the file isn't overwritten? But ...
