Decrypting will require knowledge of how the SSN was originally encrypted. Do you have access to the code that the web application uses to encrypt the SSN? Or can the developer for that application tell you how the information is encrypted?
You will need to use code to decrypt. You can find information on this at sites like StackOverflow, which ...

Hi! What do you mean by book and reserve placements? What are placements? Do you simply need to have users fill out a form and submit the xml to SharePoint, or is there something more involved going on?
To get started, may I suggest the InfoPath training labs? Here's a list of all of them -- 2003 and 2007. Going through some of the labs will ...

Just wanted to catch the thread up with the resolution -- in IP 2003, we need to use rules with the current() function -- it doesn't seem to work in default values.

Doing a web search on your error brought me to this blog post by Alec Pojidaev. Give it a read and see if it helps you with a resolution. It sounds like this type of filtering isn't supported in forms services, but I bet Alec has a work-around!

Hi:
Repeating groups in InfoPath aren't terribly easy to work with. For the first issue you mention, that you want to have some rows filled out from information in another list, you will either need to write custom code or use a tool like qRules to copy the data from one data source into your main data source. You are correct that you will ...

Hi -- have you seen this post on ServerFault? It references an MSDN article on certificate expiration that might be helpful.

Hi, Catharine:
I've been getting this error for the past 1/2 an hour on a form where I was working on some code that submitted to a SharePoint list using a form data connection. The form connection is a Submit data connection, and I was calling it in some button code. Long story short, I get this error if my form has any validation errors ...

If I recall correctly, current() didn't work correctly in default values for IP 2003. You'll need to use a rule. It appears to me from your schema outline that Material name is in the same repeating group as Price per kg? Can you just attach a sample of your template? Under the Options tab, there is a place to attach a file...

Thanks so much for posting the details of what finally worked for you -- it is sure to help others!

We have a tool called qRules that can submit mulitple items to a SharePoint List, and you can check that out here. However, it is meant for use with the form's main data source, not a secondary data source. Based on your email, though, I'm kind of wondering about your adding rules to your checkbox field and then, when it changes, take care ...
