I would have *thought*, though, that if you say you're submitting to a webservice then you can code there to recognise your situation and do whatever before handing onto SQL? One bit I don't get is you say: >>But, when I submit, it's running the UPDATE routine, ... Posted to SQL Database Integration (Forum) by jonbrave on 11-09-2004 Re: Date Picker required! Then you should be in the same situation as me. In which case, according to me, you have no choice but to go my ''Optional Section'' solution, given that you're using a dataset. I see no other solution, and it does work. If you know of other, let me know (e.g. you seem to be talking about a post you saw elsewhere, I'd be interested to read, ... Posted to SQL Database Integration (Forum) by jonbrave on 11-09-2004 Error loading InfoPath project Hello I created an infopath project in V1 with InfoPath SP1 and the VB.NET Add-In. I have now updated to Office SP1 and downloaded the VB.NET Add-In again and tried to load my solution file and get a message saying. InfoPath has encountered an error. The operation falid.... And then I cannot get into my infopath Project, Does anybody have ... Posted to General (Forum) by barnesd on 11-09-2004 Re: Update vs Insert... is your submit attached to a webservice or direct to the SQL db? Web Service 1. I think you have a 1-to-0-or-1 (Table1 to Table2) relationship. I assume the correct ''model'' for this in IP is that Table2 should be an ''Optional Section''. Have you tried that? Thoughts: I actually have a stored procedure that gets the contents of one table ... Posted to SQL Database Integration (Forum) by sakieboy on 11-09-2004 Re: Date Picker required! Before we go any further, could you please clarify what you want/allow in your DB? NULLs are allowed in my date fields. Thus, they are not required. What does ''blank'' mean? Currently, when I select a record, the Date Picker doesn't have anything in it. I want to keep it that way (unless, of course, they select a date). SQL can't store a ... Before we go any further, could you please clarify what you want/allow in your DB? What does ''blank'' mean? SQL can't store a ''blank'' date. Do you or do you not allow NULL/DBNull for your date? Also, do you want to give a link to look at whatever post you were referring to elsewhere? Posted to SQL Database Integration (Forum) by jonbrave on 11-09-2004 Re: Update vs Insert... What I meant here is: do it in *WebService* code. That's why I asked you if you were using one. When you go: thisXDocument.Submit() is your submit attached to a webservice or direct to the SQL db? I do *not* claim to be an expert in this area. It's not a situation I have to deal with. But I'm thinking it's too hard to do at the IP side, ... Anyway, back to the topic at hand....Compulsory ahhhh...reminds me of the old Doc1 days with iterations, etc....(hated it!!!!). Also, I forgot to mention, I currently have set the Tools --> Form Options --> Edit Default Values --> my originally green ... I'm using VB.Net. I have a section already set up for the Submit --> <InfoPathEventHandler(MatchPath:=''CTRLSubmit'', EventType:=InfoPathEventType.OnClick)> _ Public Sub CTRLSubmit_OnClick(ByVal e As DocActionEvent) ... Posted to SQL Database Integration (Forum) by sakieboy on 11-09-2004 Re: Update vs Insert... Dunno what you mean here. I have no trouble with this situation. What do you mean: ''it's running the UPDATE routine'' ?? Oh, OK, you mean you have a 1-to-1 mapping (or, rather, 1-to-0-OR-1)? (I have 1-to-many, and user actually inserts into Table2 via IP, so I get added records in Table2). Seems to me it's going to treat this as an update to ...
