The problem is you don't have control over the schema. There is no way of knowing whether a row is new unless you have some kind of a flag.
It seems your only option at this point is to create a copy with the flag, use the copy for your editing, then post back without the flag when you save.
Unless you can modify the main schema, I don't see ...

When you can't do what you want with what InfoPath provides, its time to start looking at building your own stuff.
Here's what I suggest:

But in answer to reforming a .XSN:
When you're inside IP you can ''Extract Form Files...'' (''File'' menu) to export all files separately, where you can then edit/overwrite them. Conversely, if you have a working manifest.xsf, you can edit that in IP, and when you save you then get a .XSN ...

Hello Greg,
I have downloaded XML Spy and tested all the XSL Files which it tells me all files are valid.
I have used XML Spy to test the Template.Xml file and it gives me the error This file is not well Formed.
I then test manifest.xsf file and it displays the error message Unable to locate a reference to a supported schema type (DTD. W3C ...

Do you mean, you have one of these new-fangled stinky integrated IP projects in VS.NET, using managed code, having downloaded the new IP 2003 Toolkit for VS.NET? Which runs like a dog...
'Coz I've stuck to the separate IP project, nothing to do with VS.NET, using MS Script, and then I know how to do what you want...
For your way, have you tried ...
