I figured this out some time ago, and yes I was simply making the submission/ ID aquisition occur last thing (ID is auto-generated in the jscript code in infopath). There is still a danger period, e.g. the actual time it takes to submit the record to the database, in this period you could have people submitting who picked up the same ID, but it ...

It might be possible but why not just create the form in infopath and then link it to the Access database for submission and retrieval of information. Thats how I'm doing it and it works well.

Hello all, it's been a while since I last posted but thanks to those that responded. I have done alot of infopath learning since then but even so have hit another brick wall!
At the moment I am using two forms, one that clients use to submit requests to my data warehouse team (data extraction requests usually), and another form for the Data ...

I have moved on to more difficult challenges with Infopath and
Sharepoint and have found the examples in Chapter 9 very helpful. I am trying to adapt the example on page 296 ''Extending Sharepoint Submit Example to Create a Task''. My scenario is a bit different than the example in that the Sharepoint List is a Secondary Data Source instead of ...

Me replying to my own post again.
It seems somethings wrong with the database end of this.
The table 'ad_details' is actually a view of our Active Directory user information.
Apparently not all of the rows/users are populating and so some queries dont work.
I might be back with furthur queries depending on what happens.
Thanks,
Mik

How can I show the return value of this function within a textbox by using a Rule?
I know that it is easy to do this job by using a button (because you can use code to handle the ...

Patrick, thanks for the tips. I noticed that I would lose the conditional formating when I publish the form. Also, I am NOT using .NET code (and cannot use it based on various client reasons). But the version of InfoPath I am using is SP1, so it seems to be a SP1 issue as a whole.
Thanks for the prompt feedback.

Thaks for reply.
Agni, I checked the link, looks like it is good idea, but could you please explain what does it mean ''trow xml into the browser as attachment''

This may be the dom-event-handler problem. One of the worst bugs in SP1. We warned MS about this before SP1 was released and they thought they had fixed it, but unfortunately, it still repros. This only happens for .NET projects in Visual Studio. Workarounds ... well, there are situations where it occurs less frequently. If you always close VS ...
