You are looking for cascading dropdowns. Here's a great post, and here's another...

This error occurs if you use a data source name for the /mapping or the /submit connection that is not present in your form. Make sure that the name you use for those parameters is the same as the name you used when you created the data connections in your form -- you may have named them something different than what I did in the walkthrough.

Hi --
I think you'd need to use layout tables and so forth to locate the fields on the image where you need them. I'm not certain InfoPath is going to be the best solution for what you trying to do -- you want to have a certificate of some type that you fill out and print?

Hey, Pete:
Sorry -- I'd seen this and flagged it, but just haven't had a chance to dig back into that sample to figure out the correct conditions. Might be easier to do things the other way around. In the condition for the filter for your repeating table from SharePoint, set the condition to be if the date time field from SharePoint is equal to and then use a formula with the translate function -- the first field would be your date time from your form, the second would the string ...

Hi & welcome:
You will need to apply two different techniques. First, conditional formatting on your text box control -- the condition would be that if the field for the drop down does not equal the value where the text box should be filled out, hide the text box. The second is data validation -- on the field for the text box, add data ...

I wonder if this has to do in some way with how IP is interpreting your data source from your web service? If your form isn't something you can't share, would you mind posting a sample here? I'd just like to see what the schema is like.... (you can post a file under the Options tab).
