When you say "When you process an attach document I know it creates a link", can you help me understand what you are referring to? Do you mean the qRules SaveToSharePoint command? If so, the link is placed in the attribute to the file attachment called qRulesLink.

Any chance you could attach a sample form in a reply (under the Options tab). I'm looking at your DB structure -- that must be from you main data source? And then there is another data source? At any rate, a sample form would really help make the question less confusing....

No, not if your data field is a date type. You'll need to use substring functions to get the date into the format you want. This sample form may help you. Another thing you can do if this is just for display on the form is put the date in an expression box of its own and format that to display the date in your preferred format.

This will depend to a certain extent on the version of InfoPath you are using, and will require either code or qRules.If you use qRules, you could use the GetInputParameter command in your target form and not have to write any code yourself -- you'd provide the user with a link to click, and you could use a concat formula to include a form ...

You'll need to do some custom validation, then, based on whether the field is blank and another field with some value that you can use to try to determine user intent (i.e. -- user clicked submit button when the field was blank) instead of using the built in "can't be blank" option on fields.

Generally, you want to make sure your form is valid prior to submitting. Why would you want to submit XML if a required field is still blank? If your validation needs to be more complex, you could have a field in your form that maintains the form state -- when the user clicks the submit button, for example, you could set that field to ...
