As a follow up to this. I've seen the following code:
try using:
var wshShell = new ActiveXObject(''Wscript.Shell'');
var wshEnv = wshShell.Environment(''Process'');
var username = wshEnv.Item(''UserName'');
My question is -- does that code give the windows login ID also, or does it give the ID used to login to IE/Sharepoint?

It sounds like you are asking if there is a way to determine what type of a control either A) the user is currently focused in, or B) is bound to a particular field in your DOM.
The answer is that you can't... at least not directly.
There might be a round-about way to do this which is to load the particular view into your code, and search it for ...

You will need to write some automation code to do this... and your code will have to open each form, change the value, and save again.
For your master form to do this it will need to be set to use full trust security.

function foo()
{...}
I don't recall if you need to format the function like any other OnClick handler. If that ...

Ok. I am having an issue that is really irritating me. I think I know the answer (if there is an answer, I think its more work than its worth), but I will ask anyways.
I have a SharePoint Portal 2003, and Infopath 2003. To make a long story short, I would like to know within Infopath (managed code) what the currently logged in WEB user is. ...

Patrick,
I am sort of following you. How would I disable the widget?
Then if I wanted to use my own image would I have to do that with code?
Thanks

Hi eespana,
Welcome to the Forum!
Did you give fulltrust to your form?
Getting username in script using ActiveX controls needs full trust to your InfoPath form.
One option is to use ADService webservice. Which doesnot require full trust.http://www.infopathdev.com/webstore/detail.aspx?itemid=18

Hi,
I have a form with three search fields. I have created a webservice to accept these parameters and retrieve data from a SQL Server database. I would like the search fields to be optional, where the user can enter 0-3 parameters to filter their data. The web service chokes when all 3 are not passed in. I tried the following and haven't had ...
