I agree with Jimmy -- this is definitely a mapping issue. Did you select that your data was repeating when you created the mapping?

Hi -- this can be done in code, but ... why? I mean, you could use rules for this. Rules would go on the field that the drop down is bound to, and you could select the field from your main data source as the target and the field you want from your secondary data source as the value. I must be missing a step in your description of your ...

Looking at the code sample provided, I see nothing that would require full trust. This code should run under domain trust. Of course, if this is for a browser form, the form has to be admin deployed....

Any details on that error message? Anything in the SharePoint logs? What version of SharePoint?

So, what's the web services portion of the site? Is that a submit connection? I'm guessing you are saying your form is a browser form? Kind of need a little more detail here.... :)

You are using the main data souce, so do not need to specify a /dsname. What does the url from your 2DS look like? Does it have a trailing "/" already? The error you are ...

I am afraid this will sound snarky -- but perhaps you should rethink your design? I'm just perplexed as to why a form would have a field that gets set to a specific value based on 50 different fields -- I could see a single field that gets the new value from a data source based on what is input, that I get....
At any rate, if 50 different ...

If you can share your form, attach it to a reply (under the Options tab) and I'll take a quick look and see if I can see what might be changing the field. You don't have any code in this form, do you?

It sounds to me as if you need two drop downs bound to the same field. On uses List A for the items, the other uses List B. Then use conditional formatting to display the correct drop down control.
But, at this point, I'm super confused as to what you are trying to do, so I may not be pointing you in the correct direction....
