Ok, So now I have brown dogs run fast sitting in an XML file. What would the best method be to change the code to "The brown dogs across the street where I live in New Hampshire are probably the fastest dogs on the face of the planet." Which would be what I need to display in Word. I know this is pretty basic, and I should be able to ...

It really is that simple.
- Create an InfoPath form
- Have it submit to a datasource
- Publish it to Sharepoint
There are several ways to submit to a datasource. My personal preference is to always use a webservice and never connect directly to SQL Server, etc. But if you are new start with making a connection and slowly build your way up to ...

Actually, InfoPath ships with two sample forms just like this. In InfoPath, click File -> Design a Form, then choose Customize a Sample from the task pane. If you scroll down in the list of sample forms you will see both a Time Card (simple) and a Time Card (detailed). If you use these as your starting point and only require a few changes it ...

Instead of storing the entire line in the drop box (which I doubt anyone can read anyway), you could display a shorter version, or synopsis of the text you are trying to pass in the drop box and use this as a reference when you are exporting. For example:
DropBox Options:
-Brown dogs run fast.
-Cats eat mice.
-Mice like cheese.
Then, ...

I have a request from one of our IT people to set up InfoPath on Sharepoint to use as a timecard system. I would assume that he wants people to access the timecard form out of Sharepoint and have the data sent back to a database on Submit. Has anyone ever done this? It sounds simple, but maybe I just don't understand InfoPath well enough to know ...

i used an infopath form with a repeating table to create a datasource. one field is called DisplayName (i.e. Design Layout) and the other Value (i.e. 24 hours). so the ...

Yes, you can add an eventhandler to an element in your repeating table. In the sample code below I check on deletes. In your case you will use eventObj.Operation = ''Insert''
Sub XXXX_OnBeforeChange(eventObj)
If eventObj.IsUndoRedo = false AND eventObj.Operation = ''Delete'' Then
'do something
'eventObj.ReturnStatus = ...

I have not experienced that problem. So you have a checkbox and the valid values persisted to your database would be something like 0 for unchecked and 1 for checked? So when you open your InfoPath form to update a record you are saying there are no value for the checkbox?

I am trying to export text from an infopath form (drop-box) to an xml file for use in a Word document. A few of the lines of text I am trying to export are longer than the 256 character limit set by the Infopath drop-box. I'm curious if there is a way to do this, or if I am better off taking another route.
Thanks,
~Gary
