OK i did the following on switch view:

BUT I am getting the following error:
System.NullReferenceException

Interesting question. I have run into that issue before and did some brainstorming and the answer seemed clear. If your goal is to add some controls to your View without modifying the main datasource, either create an .xsd or .xml doc outside of InfoPath and then bring it in as secondary datasource.

Use the OnSwitchView event.
Then you can do the code below in the event.

{
