When you say "update an existing record in the table", I think you mean update the XML with the latest from the SharePoint list. Is that correct?
If so, you can do this with the RefreshSharePointListItems command. Generally, I'd suggest setting this command on the finishedLoading node of the QdabraRules data source -- when ...

I am utterly confused at this point.
I believe you are having issues with your SubmitToSharePointList command because you do not have the correct XPath to your attachment field. I do not understand what the owssvr.dll link for the Refresh command has to do with this issue. Perhaps you can tell me?

Have you considered just running a repair of your InfoPath install? Your screenshots show Visual Studio 2010 in one -- are you trying to create a new IP project in VS2010? 'Cause VS2010 doesn't have an IP template. If you want to use Visual Studio, you'll need to use 2008 or 2005. Otherwise, you'll want to use VSTA. It seems like ...

Hi, Max, and welcome!
Let's see. When they look up their name, they are filling out query fields, right? Can you hide the data section if those fields are blank? I haven't worked with a database bound form in a while, so I can't recall if querying clears the query fields after the query is performed....
I think you don't want to ...

Okay, got your latest template. Your command should be:
SubmitToSharePointList /submit=ShPSubmit /mapping=mapping /id=my:ID /dsname=AddAttachment /xpath=my:Attachments /uniqueName=yes
The /xpath needs to be to your attachment field in your form. The name of the field is immaterial -- but the xpath needs to be correct, and if you are working with ...

What is the full XPath to the attachment field in your form?

I think you could create the new project with your common code, and then add a reference to the project (not the compiled dll). When I open VSTA directly (not from InfoPath), I do see the option for New Project on the menu, but if I click it, I get a message about no templates installed.
However, there are free editions of Visual Studio ...

I'm looking at the copy of your template you sent me, and the /xpath to your attachment file looks incorrect in your command. Wouldn't it be: /xpath=my:EEAP_Attachment ?
EDIT: Sorry, I didn't really answer your question -- no, you don't need a separate button, the command you are using should submit to the list and save your ...

What is your full command? I'm thinking you are using the version where you include the attachment with your SubmitToSharePoint list command?

You should also be able to change your SharePoint list columns back to True / False, and form data types -- you seem to completely understand the way they need to match. What was tripping you up was just that Attachment field.
It is true / false, and lets SharePoint know whether to display the little paperclip icon for the list item. The ...
