Hi:
Is there any chance an existing web service could suit your needs? Here's a StackOverflow question that mentions some that may be worth trying.... I wouldn't want to have to maintain this kind of thing myself when there are other options....

Sounds like the trouble may be in your data -- the error says that the tool is trying to compare a number to a string and failing. Can you send the following to the Support email alias: config file for the tool, template.xml, Excel data that is failing (redact any sensitive info, please).

Sounds cool. You should give the undo checkout a try without bothering with the timer code, so that you have a proof of concept in place -- add a button on your form that will call the undo checkout query connection, check out and open a copy, have another user try to open your checked out form... then run undo checkout and have the other ...

I just kept imagining this massive XML where you had all this data stored and thinking "ick".

I am still unable to understand this scenario. I don't understand the need to copy all the options into the form's main data source? Which is, I guess what I'm assuming you are doing. Correct me if I'm mistaken.
To me it sounds liike you have categorized stuff you want users to be able to choose from -- they choose a category, ...

I don't believe CopyTable will work in a scenario with nested repeating data. You many need to use Insert instead and a counter for copying items in. Here's a document that may help you.

What are the postback settings on the controls that may affect the filter? Could it be postback? Of course, it could just be that filters don't actually work in the browser -- I found this thread that suggests you aren't the only user to have some trouble, but it seems to be referring to filters on dropdowns inside tables, not tables ...
