When you use the rule to populate the other fields, you might have missed the ''Filter'' button. You need to use this so that you select the correct row (based on the value in the drop-down list box) so that you populate the fields with data from the correct row.

Ah this is a very common scenario. To fix this you just need to add a rule on the top dropdown to set the value of the bottom dropdown's node to blank. Then every time the top dropdown changes the bottom one will be cleared out. Even in the repeating section using rules should properly maintain context and only clear the dropdown in that item.

Glad our forum could help. This is also a good opportunity to point out that the samples that ship in InfoPath 2003 were built before the calculations functionality was added for SP1. Therefore there is a ton of extra code in there that we wouldn't do today. We just didn't have the option back then when we built them and could not take on the ...

Ah ok. Glad you found the permissions issue on the server. Sorry I couldn't help more. :)

Baffling. Sorry I couldn't help.

Yeah, I tried that. It is on the same server and there were no filters.
It's so weird I have to attribute it to some bizarre flaw, and not worry about it.
If I ever get to the root of the problem I'll re-post.
Thanks!

Interesting. Is it on the same server? Maybe the permissions have been altered. Also, try verifying that the new library for some reason doesn't inadvertently have a filter on the view. It seems unlikely but worth checking.

Hello Claire and welcome to our forum. From what you are saying you are writing code no? It sounds like you need to do an ''insert'' into the second table to only insert the data as a new row.

Hello and welcome to our forum. This is a bit tricky because you woudl have to crack open the Excel XLS file and extract the data. Is there a specific reason why you must have that list in Excel? Could this be just a separate lookup XML file? That would make it fully codeless actually. You can actually easily output your Excel spreadsheet to ...

It's a new library, with a new form template.
I tried re-publishing to another library and again had no luck...
Fortunately, I don't need to actually see the files (they're created and opened from another form), so it's not critical. It is, however, mildly annoying.
