The hospital that I work for did not approve loading the InfoPath SDK onto my computer. Because I see so much potential for the application I am developing, I bought a laptop and bring that into the hospital to do my work on.
I installed the Wizard, registered the two files, and ran the wizard. However, when it comes time to develop the xsl ...

Right. So, what is the syntax to set the value of this. Here is the code I have so far:
function CTRL270_5::OnClick(eventObj)
{
var thisUserName = XDocument.DOM.selectSingleNode(''/my:myFields/my:InitiatorInformation/my:UserName'').text;
var thisUserDomain = ...

Ah ok. I didn't realize your dropdown is bound to your secondary data source.
It sounds like you need to move all this into code since you want to build the SQL query on the fly at a specific point. In code then you can manually set the value of the dropdown secondary DOM node as needed. Trying to mix in rules in this instance may be more ...

Hmmm. Neither of these things seem to have helped. My drop-down is bound to a Secondary Data Source, so all of the nodes have a little lock icon on them and the default value section is grayed out.
I guess I'm not following your second point. I have a SQL connection to an Employee table. I am using the OnClick event on my button to build a ...

Yes, your logic would work for the hyperlink and is useful.
[off topic]
I would encourage you to try to educate users to use the toolbars in the application. I understand how at first you want to make the form self-contained, but there are some things in this new application/form paradigm that InfoPath presents that you will just not be able to ...

Actually, you can set the default value for a dropdown that uses a lookup for its values but it's not obvious. What you have to do is set the default value in the node itself in the Data Source Pane. Go there and double-click the node to which your dropdown is bound. There you can type in the default value. You have to be careful that the ...

Ah ok. When you say you want the list to link to Company instead of Name I'm not sure what you mean. When you connect to a SharePoint contact list from the InfoPath data connections wizard you should be shown a screen to select the columns from that list you want to pull down. If you have a company column there you can select it.

Whoops..you're right. However, the concat logic would work well if you have a hyperlink on the page. I like to build these forms that rely as little as possible on the toolbars of InfoPath. :)

Hello and welcome to our forum. To do this you will have to write custom code to do the submit to SharePoint becuase the default submit to SharePoint functionality in InfoPath does not allow parameterizing the target save location.
