Have you verified that your code works outside of InfoPath?
One thought is that you might need to escape your backslash character... i.e.:
tf = fso.CreateTextFile(''c:\\dev\\test.txt'', true);
Not sure if that will make a difference, but as the error is complaining about the filename, it seems a likely possibility.

I've not seen the error before, but what line of code is causing the error? Have you traced this through the debugger?

What you are attempting to do requires full-trust security. Have you set your form to full-trust and either signed it or used regform.exe to make an installable .msi for your form?

Your rules on roi_ind sound like they are working correct. However you are having a problem where if the user updates budget, which updates budget_ind, then budget_total doesn't get updated.
This is easily rectified by adding the same rules to budget_ind as you have on roi_ind. ...

Sorry if I misunderstood your original question -- now that I'm looking back on it. You can certainly use the string-before/string-after functions to get what you need... but first take a look and see if your data is more readily available from another key, without needing to go through all the trouble.
Good luck and let me know how it works out!

Oh, I should mention that the reason the key ''CN'' didn't work from my example above was because it is actually a lowercase key ''cn''.
