I think you could replace with multiple expressions separated with "or" - you'll want to test this, of course, and verify it works in client prior to trying in browser.
not(my:MasterLaborPerson = current()/preceding-sibling::my:RoomingTable/my:Occupant1)
OR
not(my:MasterLaborPerson = ...

What is your expression in the filter? It sounds like an issue with the "|" operator.

Oh yeah, Jimmy certainly did know how to do this (he's like a XPath super-genius). I'm attaching his sample form, check out the expressions he used for his filters on his drop downs!

So, the issue then is with the Keywords list. It has a lookup that uses the Referrals Library.
Your form - what is submitting to the Keywords list? Valid ReferralIDs? That is, does your form give the user a dropdown to select the ReferralID from?
I think I'm doing a poor job of explaining what I mean, but I will try again.
Currently, you ...

There may be a clever XPath-y way to do this, but I'm not seeing it - I'm forwarding to Jimmy in case he knows how to do this.

The first thing you'll need to know is what is providing the lookup values to your target SharePoint list.
Is it another list on the site? Or have they been hard coded in?
You need to submit the ID of the lookup item (for example, if it is from another list, you need to use the ID of the item in that list), then a semi-colon, the pound sign, ...

In your form, I'm assuming you have a submit data connection that submits via email. Is that correct?
This Office Online page, in the 6th step of the first section, is describing what I'm talking about. Basically, you need to select the email connection from the data connections window, and set it to include the form as an attachment. If ...

Hmmm. Well, if you'd like me to take a quick look, and see if I can see what's going wrong, can you attach your template to a reply? Under the Options tab. If you can't due to size or security, you can email it to support AT qdabra DOT com

Yes - I meant that you should change your email submit connection to include the filled out form (the XML created with your InfoPath template) instead of just the current view. If you do that, is the attached file in the XML that is sent with the email?

I think you'll have to manually create this expression - if I get a chance later today, I'll try to put together a sample.
