Well, the reason your field requires an integer (I'm guessing here) is probably because it is a lookup, thus it needs to store the ID (which is an integer) of the item you are looking up. I checked one of my SharePoint List forms - and the datatype shows as a Lookup on the field - which isn't super helpful ... and I get the same error ...

Can you attach your form to a reply? Under the Options tab...

You don't want to confuse controls on the form with the actual schema structure of the form. Repeating groups can bound to a number of controls - repeating tables, repeating sections, sections that don't repeat, etc.
As long as the field bound to the combo box is in the same repeating group as the field bound to the text box, you should ...
-
If the field the combo box is bound to is in the repeating group, then it should be able to set the value of a field within the repeating group when it changes - and only the field in that instance. Attach your template under the Options tab of a reply if you'd like me to set up a rule so you can see that.

So, then, your code:Dim ICDMdescr As String = ICDMdata.SelectSingleNode("/ICDMdata[strDiagCode ='" _
& e.NewValue & "']/strDiagDescr", Me.NamespaceManager).Value And your actual XPath:/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:tblDiagCode/@strDiagCodeSo, my guess would be your code should be:Dim ICDMdescr As String = ...

The XPath I'm interested in is in the tblDiagCode data source, as referenced in your code.
You are getting an error here, I think:Dim ICDMdescr As String = ICDMdata.SelectSingleNode("/ICDMdata[strDiagCode ='" _
& e.NewValue & "']/strDiagDescr", ...

Thanks for the update, Bob - if you find out what the issue is on the other site, will you post that information to this thread? It would be great to know what was up....
-
I'll have to ask my usual annoying questions here - is there a reason you need to do this in code?
My guess would be that the XPath you are using to select the strDiagDescr is incorrect. Can you right-click that node in the data source task pane and copy the XPath?

Let me see if I can try to explain it, okay?
Your Company field in your form is a lookup. It is using an ID (number value) for the value of the field (which is what is actually stored) and it displays the company name based on that ID.
So let's say you have some rows in your contacts list (which is what provides values for your Company ...

Okee dokee, now I'm kind of understanding what's going on - I hadn't realized this was a SharePoint List form.
I made some guesses in the attached file - save it locally (right click and save as), then right click on the saved file and select Design to open in IP designer.
I removed your rule on the Company field. I set the drop ...
