Patrick, thank you for the speedy reply! I do have some clarifications if you don't mind. We are currently using SP 2003 but are in the process of upgrading to 2007, so understanding the differences between the two will help me to decide whether to do this now or wait a bit for 2007 to be ready.
For submitting to the correct subsite:

Michael,
I really think 12 posts in a row is a little unnecessary. E-mail me your form and I will reply with the XPath you need.

You should be able to sum all the entries for one department with XPath, try something more like this:
sum(xdXDocument:GetDOM(''TOSSReceive'')/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:TOSS[@employeeDepartment = xdXDocument:GetDOM()/my:Root/my:DepartmentDropDown]/@monthlyExpenses)
You need to compare the @employeeDepartment attribute to the value of the ...

Assuming that you have the byte array of the actual file as stored on disk (without the extra header information that InfoPath tacks on when it is stored in the form as Base64), then you should be able to determine the filetype from the first 10 bytes. I found the following site that has some sample code that does this, but you should be able to ...

Hi edove,
I believe the rules that InfoPath creates from the wizard dialog boxes are stored as XSL prodecures, so there is no way to see them in code form. However, there are several examples of performing this operations on the form's fields scattered throughout our forums. Try doing a search for ''set field'' or ''update field with code'' to ...

Hi there, I've created an infopath form and on it are some buttons with rules set to push data from one field to another depending on certain values.
Can you tell me if there is a way to view these rules in code form?
I'm used to work in access, where if you create a button using wizards, you can go in and see the underlying code for whatever ...

I need to pull a file attachment from an InfoPath form, specifically a picture. I have some sample code to convert the picture from base64 to binary but you need to determine the type of file coming in (jpeg, bitmap, etc). Not sure how to code that. Can someone help me with an example of checking the header to determine file type ?

I,ve been trying to get this Xpath right for 15 days now. I just want to add up monthly Expenses for the current year from a database for the department selected drop down box. Is this Xpath good enough or do I need to add rules as well. Because I've tried all kinds of Xpath and it won't ...

Greg,
This what I want, but the Xpath still won't work. This works for one department.
sum(xdXDocument:GetDOM(''TOSSReceive'')/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:TOSS[@employeeDepartment = ''5201 - Management IS-Hatfield'']/@monthlyExpenses)
