Is the dropdown in the main data source? If so, try moving it to a secondary data source. Also, consider changing your view so that InfoPath doesn't have to create all of the values in the dropdown at the beginning - either use cascading dropdown or some conditional show-hide.
Finally, you could switch to another view, do the query, and then ...

How were the forms ''uploaded''? My guess is that they were not *published* to the server. In other words, the xsn still has references to the local machine in which it was created. Download the form to your local computer again and try to file->publish it to the server. Then, try to open it by clicking on the xsn file that you ...

You can just add a data connection on your form and query it. If you need to do multiple queries, create a rule with multiple actions. Good luck!

At the bottom of the bottom the Columns should be set to.....
