I hadn't seen the additional post from Connie - but perhaps copy the text out into a simple text editor to make sure you can see / remove any additional line breaks? I like Notepad ++ as it has tools built in for removing unnecessary blank & EOL chars.

Amazingly, I found a simple way to get a file out of the .xsn package!
There's actually a function in the object model to do it:
this.Template.OpenFileFromPackage(fileName)
