  • Re: XPathNavigator.AppendChild() Replaces Instead of Appends

Chalk this one up to me being stupid (sort of) ... :| In short, I had a Patient_Change event handler that was deleting the Isolations right when I was adding them.  Sounds crazy, right?  Well, let me explain since this might be biting someone else... I was porting over an InfoPath 2003 form into InfoPath 2010. Sigh...as we all ...

  • XPathNavigator.AppendChild() Replaces Instead of Appends

Greetings, I have encountered some peculiar behavior which I can neither explain nor find referenced in the documentation.  I am using InfoPath 2010 on Windows 7 and am developing a C# form.  The structure of the underlying data is something like:<Submission>     ...

  • Re: Getting New Primary Key Value After Initial Submit

Problem Solved! Actually, this is an issue I wish Microsoft would figure out but it may be that this is by design. Anyways, when I was submitting to the database my table had insert triggers and in the triggers I was sending an email.  Not a problem in SQL 2000 but they changed the mechanism (in SQL 2005, I think) to use DB mail ...

  • Re: Getting New Primary Key Value After Initial Submit

Yes, Hilary, you are correct.  I tried my original test form on a different Windows XP machine with InfoPath 2010 and got the same erroneous behavior.  Back on my Windows 7 development machine, I then modified the adapter to point to our old SQL Server 2000 database and I got the correct expected behavior. Now I need to find out what is ...

  • Re: Getting New Primary Key Value After Initial Submit

New Development... The prior examples and behavior were when my form was connected to our new SQL Server 2008 database.  When tried with a SQL Server 2000 database, submission of the forms behaved as expected, i.e. the records did not change and the new id was populated as expected.  So, it appears that the problem is not with ...

  • Re: Getting New Primary Key Value After Initial Submit

Some further clarification: I made a very simplified test case example.  I made a connection to a SQL Server database for a Filler Form, no managed code, no rules, form stays open on submit, made it trusted, and included the 3 fields: id Submitted On Submitted ByThe form looks like this after I fill in data (sorry, I ...

  • Re: General Development With InfoPath 2010 And Managed Code

Hi Patrick & Jimmy, Thank you for your empathy and relating your shared frustrations.  When I started using IP I thought "what a great tool" for our purposes.  I work in a hospital and I have built managed code forms to help nursing units submit patient information to our Infection Control department and directly into a ...

  • Getting New Primary Key Value After Initial Submit

In InfoPath 2003, after submitting to a SQL database via code as     ADOAdapter2 adapter = GetDataAdapter(DOM_MAIN);     adapter.Submit();the IXMLDOMNode representing the primary key value would be automatically set.  This was handy as if I made a change and then re-submitted, the original record just ...

  • General Development With InfoPath 2010 And Managed Code

I must be doing something wrong... First, I have been developing with InfoPath 2003 for around 6 years on Windows XP and have just upgraded to Windows 7 and InfoPath 2010...and I must say that I am extremely disppointed and displeased with the upgrade and the "new way" to develop...Of course, I'll give Microsoft the benefit of the ...

Sorry about the code.  When I previewed it it looked fine.  Don't know what happened. Is there an adminsitrator who can re-format this? And feel free to delete this reply :)
