I'm just curious what constitutes an InfoPath version change. For example, a new InfoPath form would be version 1.0.0.0. If I were to put a couple new controls on the InfoPath form should the version increase to 2.0.0.0 or would it just be 1.0.0.1. What is everyone doing for their InfoPath form versioning? Is there best practice for versioning ...

I followed the same steps you had outlined and I had outlined. I don't know why it never worked the first time because this is a pretty basic process. Either way it works now. In my workflow I ended up using the set field in current item action.

Thanks for all your help warrtalon and rbarath23. In the end I was able to use the AccountID and assign to the People/Group datatype. I started everything over (field promotion, people/group field creation. etc) and it worked good!

warrtalon, you repsonded while I was typing. You basically outlined what I was trying to accomplish. I'll try this again from scratch.

Thanks for the response rbarath23. But I can't seem to get it to work. I just want to give a background on what I did. I created a new field on my SharePoint list called Employee Name. This field is a people/group data type. I also promoted my AccountID value from my InfioPath People Picker to the SharePoint list. Within SPD I want to update ...

I'm having issues trying to promote the AccountID field to a people/group datatype. What action do you use in SPD workflow to accomplish this?

Thanks for the response warrtalon. Is there some kind of template to follow for approval workflows in SPD or Visual Studio?
