    Hi Michal,

The thought did cross my mind. This is a spreadsheet that is currently in use as part of a Release Management process, and I'm converting it in InfoPath to publish to Sharepoint.

To give an example - If I ask the question "Did the vendor provide test results?", then the value allocated to the option "No" and "Don't Know" is 3 for both. They are equally bad, so I cannot reduce the value to either of them to 2. If it is the only way to get past this I'll have to get the buy-in form the Release Manager, so I'll rather try to get a work around if it is possible.

well, how about creating two radio button fields, anyway you sum it all and that way it will not be visible to the filler and it wont duplicate your values

in the below the radio buttons come from two fields, easy solution, not the neatness though

Do you have to use radio buttons or could you use a dropdown? That way you can base calculations up the content of the selection.

    Hi,

I changed to the dropdown list. Options are as follows:

    Yes [Value = 1]

    No [Value = 3]

    Don't Know [ Value = 3]

When I select "No" and the list close, it automatically moves to "Don't Know".

    Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you explain a bit more please

Ok. This might be the long way around to do this but this is what I would do:

    1. OK. Drop Down list options are :  blank, Yes, No, Don't Know for FIELD1.

    2. Create FIELD2 number field. (This field is NOT displayed on your form).

    3. Create a rule for FIELD1>  Condition is field1=Yes   Rule type is Action   Set FIELD2's value as 1.  And do a rule for the other two values.

    4. TOTAL is FIELD2 + (your other fields that now are #'s).

    Does that make sense?

Sorry, I was sure the screenshot got through, what I meant is to make two radio button fields.

I like Csigler Idea as well, give hidden fields the value, nice, then you keep the radio buttons with the original value (1,2,3,4) but when 3  or 4 is chosen the hidden field will get the value 3

Thanks for all the help everyone. At the end it was easier to convince the Release Manager to change the values. But I will remember these solutions for future implementations.

Hi, I've been working with Infopath only for a couple of weeks, so I don't even know if this's possible to accomplish...

    Here is scenario:

I have a Sharepoint Forms Library (it has a MergedDocsReference column)
User selects a few forms and clicks Merge Selected Documents
My Infopath form "Merge View" opens
User enters a New Document Number (reference to all merged docs) into a textbox and hits a button
On the button click I should update all those merged Library Forms - populate MergedDocsReference column with the entered value.
I can open all those forms but don't know how to update them without users clicking Save button

I can't read/write those forms as text files (Unauthorized Access error)
I've tried to use Microsoft.Sharepoint.dll but have been getting Couldn't load library (I guess because Sharepint hasn't been installed on my PC)

Anybody can help me with this

I have a similar problem.  I created a form in 2010, but the program would not let me publish it (the publish options were grayed out).  We got around this, but the form will not open on any machine that has 2010; however, it will open on a 2007 version.  (Also, I was trying to publish this to email.)

What is the issue and how can I fix it?

My problem is most likely lack of knowledge. I have form. It has a number of areas that can be completed depending on the circumstances. There are approx 12 individual tasks each have different people that are responsible for completion of these tasks, however upon opening the form and completing the request not all of the 12 tasks may be required. Eg. A firmware change has been made by the engineer, that adds a new function to a hardware device. The engineer completes the form with all the relevant details, and assigns what tasks he believes are needed - in the example, a new product datasheet, a new section in the product manual and an internal notification bulletin. Each of these three tasks are completed in general by three different people. So the engineer would type in their email next to the relative tasks. Upon submitting the form I want the form to look at however manu email fields I have in the form, determine if there is an email address in there or not, and if so, email a notification to that email informing them there is a new request and they have a task to complete (or words to that effect) if however the email field remains blank then do nothing. If it helps, I also, within the same row of the email form have a true/false function, no - this task is not required, email would be blank, yes this task is required, email will be present. Any help would be great I am using SharePoint 365 and InfoPath 2010. Thanks in advance.

default radio button 1 to show section 1.  Use 2 rules for each radio button when selected rule 1 hide the section the button is in - rule 2 display the other section.  Another method is to not embed the radio buttons in the sections being hiden or displayed

Hi everyone. I have a new roadblock and could really use some help please. I have created an External Content Type in SD 2010. I have a List in SP 2010. That List form is in IP 2010. I can insert an External Item Picker, pointing to the ECT - test form. Click db icon - search "smith" - works fine. Click on a row and OK. Returns data to the field for the picker. Now, I want to also populate other fields in my form upon selection from the pop-up. Anyone know how without writing custom code? As always, i am VERY appreciative for this forum. You all have helped me out of several rough spots. CSigler

Hi, We have migrated from 2003 IP XP to 2003 IP and 2010 IP in WIN 7 PRO. In 2003 it is working as expected but in 2010 IP Win 7 PRO we are having the following issue not able to open any migrated from. Infopath cannot open a new form. The form cannot be opened. To fix this problem, contact the designer. Form template: C:\FORMS\RDHAS\RDHASLookup.xsn Access is denied. Your help is appreciated. Thanks
