I think it's pretty straightforward: DBXL is storing 2 forms with the same DBXL::Name. When these are mapped to SharePoint, the form library does not accept two forms with the same name. To fix this, DBXL automatically adds the DocID in parenthesis to distinguish the two forms (so they don't have the same name).

If you want your form to handle this scenario gracefully and prevent the user form submitting duplicate data, please take a look at this training module:

http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/dbxl/entry87052.aspx

Hope this helps.

Re: Trouble with DocId showing up in the name in parenthesis

I did start these forms with an earlier version of the template....then switched to newest template today...

Re: Trouble with DocId showing up in the name in parenthesis

Hi Doreen,

Could we check the Documents tab for this document type in DBXL? The reason I ask is I would like to know whether DBXL has one or two documents.

If DBXL has two documents with the same DBXL::Name, the Title column in SharePoint won't allow a duplicate name, and therefore the DocID is added at the end and in parenthesis.

If DBXL only has ONE document, but has shredded it twice to the SharePoint form library, then this is something we might need to investigate a bit further since it's not what we would expect.

Let us know what you find in DAT. Thanks.

Trouble with DocId showing up in the name in parenthesis

My forms are submitted to database and SharePoint 2007. They are named to field strFilename when submitted. This is working however sometimes, and I cannot determine what the conditions are that make this happen, the DocId is appended to the name field. The image shows 5 forms in my library where the top 2 are incorrectly named and the bottom 3 are correctly named, and the data connection where I force the name of the form on submit.

I revise the form daily (it's in development). Could this be happening when I shred them? Whatever the case may be, how do I make this stop.

Doreen
