If you'd like us to investigate the error on the form you were working on (the one with the rules setting the search type), you can attach the XSN via the Options tab and we'll take a look.

Thanks.

Re: Infopath contacted a data source but failed to receive data.

I actually went back into the data connection and set the searchtype to exact since I knew exactly what I was doing with this data connection. That seemed to fix the problem.

What I don't understand is why I had to do it on this one when I've used this FindUsersbyName function on many other forms without having to set the search type in the data connection, but set it in the rule on the form field.

Re: Infopath contacted a data source but failed to receive data.

Hi,

Exact is a valid option for searchType, though there may be something else going on that's causing searchType to be reset to blank (per the error message).

Could you attach the form template (via the Options tab) so we may take a look?

Thanks.

Infopath contacted a data source but failed to receive data.

Using the QdabraAD
I am creating a new form where I have a name box and need to generate the email of the name into another field. I have done this on multiple forms before so not sure why this error:

The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: FindUsersByName
InfoPath cannot run the specified query.
The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred:

Server was unable to read request. ---> There is an error in XML document (1, 436). ---> Instance validation error: '' is not a valid value for SearchType

My rule is setup as such:

Condition: If the name is not blank get the email

Set a fields value: name = .
Set a fields value: searchType = "Exact"
Query using a data connection: FindUsersbyName
Set a fields value: username = @value
Query using a data connection: GetUserInfo
Set a fields value: InventorEmail = Value[Key = "mail"]

What could be wrong here? The only thing that has occurred between the forms i've already done and this one is we moved sql servers and I reinstalled the Qdabra on the new server. But the error seems to point to the searchtype I'm using.
