The SharePoint 2007/SQL 2005 test environment is on a test server at work. The SharePoint 2010/SQL 2008 test environment is a virtual environment running on my laptop at home. It's very strange that they both now refuse to run the DAT. Perhaps there's something wrong with the installation files I downloaded or perhaps the test license isn't working properly? I can't think of any other explanation. I saw the DAT run successfully on both platforms but now it won't launch. Everything else seems to work though and there are no error messages in the Qdabra log...

Re: Problems running DAT

It sounds as if you trying to open DAT on both servers from the same workstation. That would be the only explanation as to why the SharePoint 2007 exhibits the same problem without having done anything.

At what point in the tutorial does the problem appear? And do you have InfoPath 2007/2010 installed side-by-side?

Everything was going well until I got to the section describing SQL connectivity and I discovered that I coundn't run the DAT anymore. I got the following messages:

"The form cannot be opened because some external data cannot be retrieved".

"Infopath cannot open a new form. The form cannot be opened. To fix this problem, contact the form designer. Form template: http://<servername>/QdabraWebService?Forms/DAT/template.xsn. Cannot connect to the following Web service: http://<servername>/QdabraWebService/DatabaseEnumerationService.asmx. There may be a problem with the Web server or the connection has timed out.

Assuming I'd done something wrong I decided to remove DBXL (this wasn't easy but I won't bore you with the details) and try a re-install. I also thought that perhaps my platform of SharePoint 2010/SQL 2008 might be the problem. Fortunately I also have a test SharePoint 2007/ SQL 2005 platform and so I installed DBXL on that as well.

DBXL installed on both platforms successfully and the DAT ran and so I thought my problem was resolved. I then went through the tutorial again on my SharePoint 2010 system. When I got to the SQL part I again discovered that the DAT would no longer run. I then moved on to the SharePoint 2007 system and discovered that the DAT would no longer launch on that system either (even though I hadn't done anything on that platform at all).

Has anyone seen this? Why does the DAT just suddenly stop working and refuse to launch? I'd love to try out DBXL as it looks like exactly the solution I'm looking for but I just can't get it to work. I've spent two weeks on it now and have yet to submit data to an SQL database (which is what I want it for).

I think I'm almost ready to give up with it, but thought I'd try the forum in desperation. Thanks for your time!
